Pitch oil was a real multi-purpose substance in the Finnish folk medicine because it was used for treating many different ailments and problems. The ancient people adviced to use pitch oil, for example, for the following purposes:
Prevention of virus diseases.
One drop in a glass of water will keep viruses away.
Cough, hoarse throat, and symptoms of cold. Used in the same way as above.
Treating psoriasis, itchy rashes, dry and itchy skin by using it together with tar cream. First you wipe the skin area with a cotton wad that has pitch oil to ease the itching. After that you apply tar cream daily.
Fungal diseases such as fungal nail disease. Apply pitch oil as it is on the problem areas.
Apply pitch oil with your finger on the problem areas around the anus. After that, apply tar cream on the problem area 2-3 times per day.
Apply as it is on the skin.
Pitch oil works against almost all flying insects. Apply as it is or as a cream.
It eliminates pain, itching, and swelling.
Put some pitch oil on a cotton swad and then place the swad in your ear.
Put pitch oil on the tooth and on the gums.
Wounds and scratches
Pitch oil disinfects the wounds and scratches, and numbs the pain.
Blocked nose and cold
Use in the sauna and put a few drops in a scoopful of water and throw on the heated sauna stones. It also gives a nice scent in the air.
Use externally a few drops per day at the most.
